Hi, my name is Christi DuPont, and I’m a designer in Oldsmar, FL (the Tampa Bay area). CBC stands for Created by Christi.
Detail oriented is an understatement. For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed planning things and making sure every little detail comes together to exceed my own high expectations. I love to take an idea through the whole process from conception to a stunning finished product that gets results.
I express my creativity through everything from graphic and web design to photography, art, writing, cooking, interior decorating, event planning, and more.
My first love was writing. As a child, I wanted to be a novelist. I wrote a 60-page story about two teenagers and a mysterious hurricane when I was 10. In fifth-grade, after working on the school newspaper, I decided to start our own class newspaper; as a young self-starter, I named myself journalist, editor, and publisher and worked with classmates who were willing to be journalists. As a high school sophomore, I became a yearbook section editor, laying out the clubs and organizations pages. Many people find such tasks tedious, but I enjoyed combining my love of writing and editing with visual design. As Historian and Vice President of Mu Alpha Theta, I also took event photos and organized the yearly scrapbooks for our math club.
I grew up around computers and loved the internet even at frustrating dial-up level. At 15, I designed my first website (old school mid-1990’s style using FrontPage) to showcase my poetry. As much as I enjoy all of the intricacies of language, creative design keeps calling to me. I took my first web design class at UWF; it was one of four dual enrollment college courses I completed, just for fun, while in high school. I left Pensacola High with my International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2001, graduating third in my class of 330 with a 5.2 weighted GPA.
My higher education continued at the University of Florida, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 2004. I have always been very organized, so I was right at home working at a library and a Records Department in between and after classes.
I also met my husband, a fellow computer nerd, at UF. He is a Sr. Corporate Web Developer, and we have worked on some web projects together in the past. We are also huge gator football fans and love throwing watch parties in the fall and making it back to Gainesville for at least one game.
For the past 9 years, I have worked for Smart Luck lottery software and books. I have redesigned and developed their website several times over the years, including the most recent re-styling to adapt the website to work optimally on multiple media device sizes. I maintain the website and lottery files, write content for the website, keep up with search engine optimization and social media networking, help with software testing, and provide technical support to customers.
I maintain websites for quite a few small business clients and design their business cards, flyers, and magazine advertisements. I am also an independent contractor for a small web and graphic design company in Tampa.
A few years ago, thanks to an overload of requests from friends, I started CBC Cakes & More as an infrequent side business. I create very affordable custom cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, and other treats for events around Tampa Bay. The baking venture also feeds my photography addiction, and I had a great time building the website for CBC Cakes.
Photography is primarily my hobby, although I have done photo shoots for couples and families. I love going out and exploring Tampa Bay, capturing all of the little details, and finding the beauty in all things. Post-processing is also something I enjoy because it’s fun to make a photograph shine with Lightroom and Photoshop.
I am available for your custom graphic design, web design, or photography projects. If you need a cake while you’re at it, you are definitely in the right place!
I am also open to full time employment opportunities, as I would love to work as part of a creative team.
